Thanks for sharing #Steve. Typical crows, never miss an opportunity. Youngster has to perfect it's balance a bit!
Steve whiteraven
They are great to watch very intelligent, they work with the larger rooks and nest in the same tree. I have seen them dropping bits of suet to the rooks who find it difficult to get at the feeder because they are too big .

I also have a lot of photos on instagram https://www.instagram.com/thestevewhiteraven/ I started with pinjtrest but found that ..well pretty useless TBH

Spotted this fellow the other day, he has a deformed beak, he seemed to be eating ok but I would imagine its tough for him

Occasionally encountered #Steve, Probably will struggle as the weather turns colder and food becomes short and more difficult to find.

#Andrew If the problem is genetic then and he does not survive it is natures way of ensuring he does not introduce a genetic fault into the population , But when we put out so much easy to ghet food do we make that more of an issue ? ..interesting thought of the day
Andrew Goodall
Very likely genetic #Steve, but nutritional imbalance is not to ruled out. As you rightly point out it is good example of natural selection if this bird gets weaker in the winter it is going to be at the top of the queue to be taken by a cat, Sparrowhawk or just die of starvation.

Artificial feeding is an interesting topic #Steve. One which I have been guilty of for many years as I feed all year around. Yes, it makes it easier for birds to feed as they do not have to travel so far. You could argue it keeps the weaker ones going. The flip side to this of course is that for so...View More

Its good to feed yes , Humans have ravaged the planet , places like the UK definitely has less insects and natural food sources many species going extinct is so sad .
Andrew Goodall
Agreed #Steve and why I like to do my bit. Also to increase species visiting to help increase my garden list. Have a look at the Group Global Backyard Birding, be great to see you there.
