It is a few years since I was in Watchet. Our son worked in Porlock a few years back so we used to come over quite often.
Steve whiteraven
Oh so you know the area quite well then , I want to spend this year exploring more on Exmoor and the Quantock hills ,Porlock is where we go up the hill to the moors :-)
Andrew Goodall
Exmoor is one of my favourite areas. Dippers in the streams in the village. Yes, Porlock Hill is quite something.
Steve whiteraven
Someone mentioned dippers on the stream near us, when i have time i will have to go and sit there for a while see if i can spot them
Steve whiteraven
Circling owver the fields I often see this one and its mate they seem to be going back to the tree they had a nest in last year and raised 1 youngster

I’m going to say dunlin, looking at the slightly downturned bill and the colour of its feathers, but I may be wrong
Allan Duffy
Dunlin I think yes

Hi #Steve. Nice shot. What you actually have here is a Meadow Pipit. A bit smaller and slimmer than a Song Thrush. Note top of head markings on this bird which Thrush lacks. Song Thrush has very yellow buff top of breast and classic arrow head spots. Easy to confuse the two.
Barry Farquharson
It's a Meadow Pipit, Steve.

Photo shows that there are 2 other comments, but I'm unable to see them - either on PC or on phone, for some reason.
Steve whiteraven
Thank you Barry nice to know (i can add that to my sightings )
Andrew Goodall
I guys I messaged last night but was experiencing issues which thankfully admin have resolved in a speedy manner. It is a Meadow Pipit as #Barry has confirmed. Meadow Pipit is a smaller more slender bird with different markings. Song Thrush has classic arrowhead spots on the breast and lacks the he...View More

Hee Steve. One Steenloper or Ruddy Turnstone. And the other little one is I think a Zilverplevier or don't no the name in English
Hans van Kersbergen
Grey plover is the name.
Steve whiteraven
Ok thank you , after I thought about it the legs on the ruddy turnstone should have been a giveaway :-) The grey plover i did not think of .I can add them to sightings now :-)
